birthing classes?

The hospital I am delivering at offers a birthing class.  It covers all the basics about labor, pain medication, tour of the facility, etc etc etc...  I want to know how many people have taken the classes, or plan to take the class.  If you have taken it did you find it helpful?  I am not really a nervous type of person.  Nor am I someone who feels they need to plan every detail.  I kind of have the mentality that whatever happens happens. I have heard many people say it is more useful for the fathers. I am torn on if we should pay the money (yes we have to pay for it) and take the class.  Please ladies give me your opinions!

I'm signing up for one. They have a natural birthing class that goes over how to non-medically manage/deal with the pain, but also talks about what your med options are, and what happens if you wind up needing a c-section. I would hate to end up making an uninformed decision in the moment, or in a panic, and since this class covers all of it I think it's a good option. DH is not excited, but he's on board. This kid has to get on the outside somehow!

We plan on taking one. It kinda covers a little of everything.

My doc/friends say that all of the classes (tours, baby basics and such) say the classes are more for the daddies.  That being said, we will def. be doing them!

We're taking one.  Everyone we've talked to (including my SIL who works at the hospital she delivered at) say it's helpful.

We took one with our first and it was well worth it. It was especially helpful for my husband...to help quell his fears and give him some more understanding of the process. I ended up having an extremely stressful labor and a resulting c-section. I think had we not gone to the classes, he would have been a huge mess. It helped me with pain management as well.  I definitely think it's more than worthwhile for expectant couples to go to one.
