Anyone's OB not want to prescribe prenatals?

My RE told me I need to have my prenatals refilled by my OB now so I just called to get a new prescription and the nurse told me they don't prescribe prenatals that i can just get them OTC.  To which I wanted to say duh, I know that, but I didn't :-).  I said well these are the only vitamins besides flintstones I have ever been able to take without getting sick and my insurance pays for them so I want to get the prescription brand I have been taking.  She hemmed and hawed and finally said ok, but I don't get why it was a big deal.  My copay is only $5 and they come with the extra DHA pill as well.

Anyone else's OB not want to give them a prescription?  Am I weird for asking for one?

My RE gave me 10 refills on mine so I don't think I will have to ask her but I can't imagine her saying she wouldn't.

I totally don't see why she thought it was a big deal.  I am glad she finally did it.

That was my thought too.  Why does the nurse care if I want a prescription prenatal or not.  It was odd.

I should have asked my RE for a longer renewal before I was released but I forgot.  If the nurse hadn't refilled it I would have called my primary or RE to do it.  I'm sure my RE would have refilled it if I told her they wouldn't.

Mine doesn't prescribe them and neither did my RE. I just take the Target brand, which my doc said was fine.

The cynic in me say the nurse was being lazy and didn't want to call in a script.

I actually had to switch prenatals - I just didn't like the brand and had to go back to Duet.  My OB actually cracked a joke about giving me as many of those as I wanted since the street value of it is so high.
