How many ounces? — The Bump
Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How many ounces?

How many ounces is your 2 month old eating? The amounts that babies eat aren't usually given in books...at least I haven't found them.

TIA

Re: How many ounces?

  • My 7 week old is eating about 6.5-7 oz per bottle, 6 times a day, but I think he eats more than "usual".

Here are two websites I found with guidelines:

  • We make Mason 4 oz bottles, after that if he still acts hungry we give him more. More often then not the 4 ozs is enough for him though.

  • I'm relieved. This sounds like Sam. He's taking an average of 4 1/2 oz with occasional 6 oz feedings. The links were great! Thanks!!!!
  • My LO is eating more than the other babies her age she is 3 weeks and eating 6oz to 7oz. I think your LO is fine. :)
  • griffin eats 4-6oz every 3-4 hrs

  • I am breastfeeding and supplementing with formula. After I nurse him, I usually give him 3-4 oz, sometimes more. He eats a lot!

  • LO eats 6 oz every 3-4 hours. Her weight is considered "off the charts" for her age (13 lbs) and Doc doesn't like it. She had the nerve to ask me what might LO do if I tried feeding her less. So I asked what she might do if someone just decided she couldn't eat what she needed to get full. Yeah...thats what I thought.
