BF or FF WWYD?

So a little back story.  DS1 was born in Aug 2008.  From the start I had problems with BF, he wasn't gaining weight, etc and I supplemented.  I stuck it out for 10 months and was miserable.

Mar 2010, DS2 was born.  A couple weeks in, he stopped gaining weight.  I ended up opting to FF him.

We are trying for DC3 now, and I am trying to decide if I should even think about BF or just straight FF.  I would love to BF,  it makes me sad that I missed out on it with DS2, but I also know I have been a better mother because I wasn't fooling around going back and forth.

So, would you attempt to BF again, or just FF and be done with it and not be emotional about it?

I say try, try again!!! But get lots of support and help! find a La Leche League leader and go to the meetings if you can!   https://www.llli.org/webindex.html

I reccommend starting now, that way you will be fully prepared when baby comes to head into any problems that arise!

It's hard not to be emotional about it IMO. I would give it a shot.

I would try again and like pp said, do your homeowork now.  Read up and have backup LC's numbers on hand.  I think any bf is good for the baby, so whatever you can do is great.  Don't beat yourself up about it.  Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm!

I would try to BF again because I don't think there's anything to lose in trying.  As pp said -- you just never know!  You can decide to switch to formula at any point after your next LO arrives, but it's much more complicated to go the other direction (from bottle back to breast).

But ultimately, we're not you.  You have to do what's right for you.  If you decide to go for it make sure you have a good support system and don't beat yourself up -  no matter what happens!  You know first hand that ff kiddos grow up to be just as wonderful and healthy.

I say give BF another try. If it doesn't work out then FF. But at least you'll know you gave it a good try!
