The nursery has a tall/skinny window. Maybe 4ft tall and 2.5ft wide? I have no clue really.
Are you supposed to use one drape panel and just secure it to one side to open it or still use two drape panels and pull them to the sides to open it like on a larger window?

Since the window is so skinny, I would just use one drape panel and secure it to the side. Or, you can do something like this, where it's gathered in the center:
Some of the HGTV sell my house shows do an illusion trick to make the window seem bigger. Use two drape panels, but put the curtain rod where it is about 2 feet larger than the window on each side. Then if you double drape, it will make the window look bigger. Pretty much, the drapes are covering wall. But, when you first look at it, you assume the the drapes are covering window.
