A significant winter storm is expected to move across the state starting tonight through Wednesday. This strong system will bring rain, snow, ice, and high winds throughout the state. Significant ice and snow accumulations can be expected across central and northern Indiana. Winds will also become strong Tuesday night through Wednesday. The combination of ice, snow, and wind could result in widespread downed trees and power lines. Below is a forecast for northern, central, and southern Indiana for today and Tuesday.

Tonight- Round #1
Northern Indiana: A mixture of sleet and snow will start to fall after the evening rush hour and move northeast across the state. Total snowfall accumulation of 3-5? can be expected.
Central Indiana: A mixture of freezing rain and sleet will begin to start falling around 7-8 pm this evening. At this time, it appears the precipitation will fall mainly as freezing rain. Total accumulation will be around a tenth to a quarter inch of ice by Tuesday morning.

The area concerned with the mixture of freezing rain and sleet will be south of Highway 24. Minor icing is possible.
