Carseats/Strollers

I am a bit torn. I have 2 travel systems on my registry currently. I know car seats are a major necessity and strollers aren't. Do you ladies recommend us getting 2 car seats and a double stroller or 2 travel systems? DH and I can each push a stroller so that isn't an issue. Thanks!

Re: Carseats/Strollers

  • Our Double Snap and Go stroller (DSNG) was definitely a necessity and is worth its weight in gold for our infant car seats. I think most people on here with twins will agree. GL!

  • Do you never plan on taking them out by yourself?

  • honestly- travel systems suck. The strollers are heavy/big - how you will fit 2 of them in your car = ?

and why would you want to be stuck needing a 2nd person with you at all times? You WILL need to take them out by yourself at some point- so you will need something that will fit both babies.

don't waste money on 2 travel systems.... i don't think i have ever heard of any twin mom doing that... b/c it just doesn't make sense - space, ease of use, etc - total pain in the a$$.

if you really want 2 separate strollers- get 2 of the snap and go singles... but i would also get a double snap and go. You can get them really cheap on craigslist - and they take up very little space- and are super light/easy to use.

then you can get a nice double stroller to use without the seats - when you really know what you want. Early on you will likely use the snap and go frames most of the time- so having a "regular stroller" right away isn't that important.  But really- don't get 2 single travel systems - that would be a big mistake in my opinion.

  • Definitely don't waste your money on two travel systems.  Like others mentioned, do you ever plan on taking them out by yourself??  Definitely get a Double Snap n Go in the beginning.  We did and then I ended up with the Baby Jogger City Select that I use as a DSNG right now.
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I currently don't drive so I am always in the car with my husband. I would stay home or have him drop me off at the store when we need to do shopping. Also we have an SUV so I'm not worried about space for strollers but I will definitely add the double snap n go instead of the travel systems. Thanks!

    Why don't you drive?

What if something happens to the babies and he isn't available?

Mainly from anxiety issues. We had one car also and didn't live close to DH's work so he always had the car. It is something I am working on before the babies get here but I think it will be a little bit before I am comfortable driving alone with them. I am more worried about people hitting me than me hitting something, people down here are horrible drivers. We are moving within 5 minutes of DH's work next month.
