What inserts/pre-folds do you use? We officially started CDing this week and this kid is going through the MF inserts like it's going out of style. I ordered some clotheez organic pre-folds today but I'm thinking we are going to need something hefty.

I use BG 4.0 OS dipes for DS and have had no issues, at night I use Monkey Snuggles overnight fitteds.  hemp or bamboo is really good for inserts. 1ht

If you're using pocket diapers if you add a hemp insert to the MF it really helps. Hemp absorbs tons. Some people use hemp on it's own or lay in under the MF insert. Popular ones on this board are AFFF (artsy fartsy foo foo) and hemp babies. AFFF stocks on wednesdays only and hemp babies you can get at a lot of CD stores.

We also have used the bamboo/cotton insert that comes with our econappi and DD has never been able to soak the whole thing. So like PP said, bamboo & hemp are a good solution.

Yeah, I got rid of MF inserts almost immediately.  I bought 12 AFFF hemp inserts to use in pockets for daycare and underneath the soaker in GM fitteds at night.  They work great!

I'll probably have to do the same, she soaks through those in an hour! I will check out AFFF, thanks ladies!

During the day I get by with MF but it's been washed zillions of times so it is pretty absorbent now. They only last about 2 hrs. When I want something a little longer lasting I add hemp (thirsties, punkin butt). At night I use a Flip organic insert and an AFFF hemp insert.

Hemp, bamboo & organic cotton are all very absorbent (and tend to hold on to smell less than MF).

That said, you generally need to change CDs more often than disposables. DD is what I'd call a typical wetter and I change her every 1-2 hours.
