Re: *Clicky*Which vehicle do you recommend and why?

  • It really depends on the model, but of those three - Toyota will run forever and they have much better resale that Ford/Chevy.

  • 5 years ago I would have said Toyota, but Fords have come a long way.
  • Depends on the model. I have a ford fusion and honda pilot. My in laws have owned a number toyota's and I would say all are really great cars. The fusion has a great resale value as well.
  • DH works for toyota and would not buy one. We drove our old avalon into the ground. It was a really great car. They don't make them like that any more. Their quality has fallen behind Honda dramatically, and they don't offer the warranties that the lesser quality cars offer. Of course, I want him to keep his job so keep buying the Toyota's, but yeah...we don't love Toyota vehicles.
  • I choose Toyota because they will run forever and the resale value is better than the ford or chevy.  I love my toyota
  • None! My DH works for Honda. :P
  • I am a Toyota girl.  That being said, my 2007 Camry has been recalled 3 times.  It is not near as well made as my old 1998.  I do not know that I would buy another one.
  • Neither. We are Honda lovers here.

  • Hyundai.  My parents have well over 100,000 miles on their Sonata with minimal issues and I've got an Elantra with 56,000 miles and it's never been in the shop other than for maintenance.  They both come with 100,000 mile warranties, and mine has a lifetime warranty through our dealership.

I was able to get more features and interior room, for less money than had I purchased a Toyota.  I owned a Toyota Corolla prior to my Elantra and had problems with it from 3 months on.  When we finally traded it in, the brakes weren't totally releasing after stopping.  It would have been ridiculously expensive to repair.

Also, my DH currently owns a Chevy, but we may get a Ford in the near future.  Their resale value is holding its own against Toyota and Honda and as he has said, they didn't get bailout money. :)

  • I voted Toyota, but only because I wouldn't buy one of the big 3. We're a Honda family and won't buy anything else. You may spend a little more, but you get what you pay for.

  • everything is made crappier now.  my  parents had a hyundai (think it was a '93 ) sonata... I ended up taking it and it was used for over 10 years... traveling for college to home to my first job that was 1500 miles away from home. great car.  we bought a tuscon in ''05 (summer)... it has not held up nearly as well.  I miss my 2002 corolla.  I would have kept it forever if I could. zero issues with it. I'd buy another.

I've heard the new ford fushion is great.  most friends from home love their hondas and toyotas.  here, people prefer their mercedes and range rovers (nyc).

  • I voted for Toyota, but my neighbor has the chevy traverse, and it is pretty awesome.  I just bought a new car last week and I didn't look at any of the Fords very much because none had the gas mileage requirement that DH's company requires, but they have some pretty nice models too in the larger car category.
  • My dad worked for Ford for 43 years, so I have always had that feeling of guilt if I bought anything but a Ford.  Now, I can say that I would buy one even w/o that guilt.   They have come a long way.

That said, I drive a Chrysler, which was a hard sell for DH and I, but ultimately, it was priced right and what we need at the moment.
