starting cereal = more spit up?

I just started rice cereal with my DS on Friday and ever since he seems to be spitting up more than usual. And today he pooped 3 times when he usually just goes once! Is this a normal reaction to starting cereal or could this be a reason to not give it to him? He seems fine otherwise.
