Cardiologist cleared me for a natural delivery!

I have a heart condition that will require me to have my pulmonary valve replaced in the next few years and I though that i would have a c/s for sure, but after a few tests they ok'd my plan for a natural birth .  I'll be closely monitored and have my doc on call.  The only thing i'm still worrying about is the increased chance of the baby having a heart defect as well.  So far the genetic tests came back looking good, but I will have an echo on the baby's heart in a few weeks to be sure.  Fingers crossed

 

ps....thank you to all of you that responded to my FI/MIL shenanigans.  Having all of you agree with me gave me the courage to talk to him about it and not feel like the crazy pregnant girl lol

That is great news!!  I actually have a heart condition as well and had my pulmonary valve replaced back in 2007 and will have it replaced again in a few years.  We are worried about the increased risk of our LO having a heart defect too.  I have an appt with my cardiologist on Monday to talk about labor and everything  We will have an echo on the baby in a few weeks as well!  Can I ask what your heart condition is?  Don't feel you have to share if you don't want to  I was born with a hole in my heart (tetrology of fallot), which was patched when I was 3.

Same thing...Tetrology of fallot!  crazy small world!  Have you been tested for the chromosome 22 deletion?  It sometimes causes TOF.   I had it patched when I was a year old, and i've been fairly healthy since. They're just concerned that i'll develop an arrhythmia so i get to wear one of those very fashionable heart monitors once a month.  Good luck at your appointment...hope it goes as well as mine did!

Wow, what a small world indeed!  I don't believe I've ever been tested for it but I'm not totally sure either lol.  I'm anxious for my appointment on Monday, I'm hoping for some good news just like yours!  Thanks!!
