So aside from me being only able
to bump at night due to work, I took an unannounced break from the
board this week. Following an initial good NT scan last Friday, on
Tuesday I was informed that my blood work put me in the high risk
category for Trisomy 21 (Down's Syndrome). DH and I were devastated and
opted for a CVS test, which was done yesterday. We chose to receive
the FISH results within 24 hours, which is an early screen that makes
sure there are 2 copies of chromosomes 13, 18, 21, and the sex
chromosome. Well those results came back good...two pairs of everything
just like there should be. Phew thank God! We won't have the full
results for 9 more days, which will tell us how all the chromosomes are
looking and if they are structurally correct, but for now we can breathe
a sigh of relief. The bonus is that we were told the sex chromosome is
XX, so that means GIRL! TEAM PINK! I finally feel like there is
something to be excited about with this pregnancy. Being PGAL is hard
enough as it is, but then add having been hospitalized for the flu a few
weeks ago and then scary NT results, I have been an emotional wreck.
Which is why I needed to step back from the board. But now that things
are looking more promising, I plan to start contributing more. I hope
you ladies are all doing well!
