Sleep Deprived! Any advice?

All week I've been having the hardest time sleeping.  On top of waking up four times to pee, I can no longer sleep on my belly, when I sleep on my shoulder it starts to hurt and same with my back.  Not to mention the headaches I keep waking up with every morning.  I have heard about body pillows but never used them...anyone having a tough time getting a good night's sleep and finding solutions?  This is our first and I know I should be getting as much sleep as possible while I can!

Any advice is appreciated!  Thanks!

Re: Sleep Deprived! Any advice?

  • Get a pregnancy pillow or sleep with extra pillows (one by/underneath the side of your belly and one between your knees).  If you are normally a stomach sleeper and trying to sleep on your side now, you need a thicker pillow.

Take a 1/2 unisom (increase to a full one if that doesn't help).

Stop drinking water 1-2 hours before bedtime.

  • I have sleeping issues often, too. Taking a nice hot bath and having a massage from DH really helps me relax and sleep better. I don't do that every night, though. I also did get a body pillow (just a $10 one from Target) and it helps with comfort throughout the night.

I hope you find something that works soon!

  • I do like my Snoogle body pillow, although I only use it a few times when a week, when my husband has duty on his ship (navy) and I have to sleep alone. It's pretty supportive, but it is large, so it takes up a lot of room in bed. And I totally feel your pain, last night was actually the first night I slept well in weeks.

This.  I have been taking this since about 6w.  I still have some sleeping issues, but not nearly as bad.

This...I take half a unisom just to get to sleep.

    Try tylenol before bed too..

  • Unisom, it is Class B.
  • I still haven't slept yet so my insomnia is killing me! I took an hour nap yesterday at3 and haven't gotten a wink since! I feel like I'm going to crash very shortly though...I'm exhausted! Body pillows are too bulky for me since I'm tiny and my dr said no to sleeping pills (not sure why). I also used to sleep on my tummy and it stinks that I can't anymore. I stop drinking around 7 and I still have to get up at least 4 times during the night. I hope all our sleeping patterns get better and we can get some much deserved beauty sleep!

  • Thanks Ladies!

I'm going to ask my MW about Unisom, I think she has mentioned it before.  Maybe I'll try a body pillow.   I need something to help with feeling so achy all night.  I hope we can all find a way to get some sleep while we can! Big Smile

  • My doctor suggested 2 body pillows one for front and one for the back and small pillow below my belly. Plus monthly massages. DH totally missed this apt, but he believed me.  I also use ice and tylenol for the headaches or one of those heat things for your shoulders.
