Cloth Diapering

CD with two or more...

We CD'd with DD1.  We have about 27 Bumgenius 3.0s.  We LOVED them up until her second year.  DD drinks a TON and we had major leak issues.  I also think at some point daycare used too much diaper rash cream and that may be when the leaking started.  I've tried stripping them numerous times and nothing really worked, so we switched to disposables for her last three months of diaper wearing.  We are now in underpants full time.

So, here's my question.  I'm due with #2 in August.  We would love to CD again.  Do I...

1.  Try stripping the heck out of them again and just wait to see what happens when #2 arrives, knowing they don't pee the same volume.  But knowing we may have to buy replacements within the first few months.

2.  Strip them again and try to sell them used to try to make some money to purchase an entire new set.

3.  Cut my losses and just move on...

Thoughts?  Experience?  Advice?  Suggestions?

  • If stripping didn't work, I would try a soak in rockin green. I was amazed at what was on my diapers! With out bgs, I boiled water in a 5 gallon pot, put in about a tbsp of rockin green and threw in the inserts. I let them soak for 90 minutes. With the shells, I did the same, but didn't have the water as hot because I didn't want to ruin the pul. If diaper rash cream in the issue, you will probably have to scrub the shells by hand. Do you have a friend that has a baby that you can test them out on before your babe arrives, so you know if you're still having issues or not?
