My son is a little over 6 months. We have been doing Ferber since about 4.5 when he still was refusing to go for more than 4-5 hours of sleeping at a time.
It worked pretty well and while he still wakes up at least once during the night, he usually can put himself back to sleep.
Just a few days ago, I started to notice he was not putting himself to sleep and was making a lot of noise on the monitor, so I went in to see what he was doing. Well-- he was standing up in his crib, grabbing the rails and playing. He would then sit up and "talk to himself" then go back to standing. I wanted to see what he was doing, so I borrowed a video monitor from a friend and it turns out taht he was doing this standing/playing thing for about 2 hours in teh middle of the night (I could not sleep, so I just watched him). I would have never know he was not sleeping as it is so low on the monitor that with his sound machine I would have had heard. He is just starting to pull up to stand, so he is not super steady, so he also keeps bumping his head on teh crib. I noticed 3 tiny bruises on his forhead from this in the morning.
So now what? I have a baby who is not sleeping through the night, but is amusing himself in his crib, but getting bruises. How can I stop him from standing and get some rest? I bought this teething guard which also has some padding on it and put it on the top of the crib, but it not soft enough to prevent these little bruises.
TIA!

Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
This. And I know the bruising isn't the best, and you want that to stop, but I think it's really cute how he sits in the dark and plays by himself in the middle of the night!
