Dr. Oz on the view

I always thought Dr. Oz was the biggest drama queen, but he has proved me wrong. He was on The View promoting his new book for pregnant women called "You Having a Baby," He co wrote it with his wife. He had some excellent points he said that a lot of what happens in the womb determines how we are as adults. He said the worst thing for babies and moms is stress, he mentioned the stress from getting unwanted advice from mil, sil, mother, ect. worrying about weight gain and should I do this or that, causes a lot of harm. Also, Barbara Wawa asked him if not breastfeeding was horrible, and he said that with formula these says if breastfeeding is going to stress you out, it's better to bottlefeed but of course breastfeeding is better. Which made me feel better because the stress of breastfeeding is what is making me lean towards formula.

It was a great interview though!

  • I didn't see it but he's right. Stress is NO GOOD. even the low level day to day stuff as it builds up can become a problem. I'm making it my mission to let things go, for the well being of my baby.

I'll have to pick up his book! I just finished another great one. Its called "Origins: How the nine months before birth shape the rest of our lives" by Annie Murphy Paul. It's awesome. would be a good and actually a quick/easy read for all the moms here.

  • I think there is a lot of valitity to that-b/c I am a very laid back person so it DH. I never get hung up on what I am eating, weigth gain, what people say and my DD is the easist, most happy baby I have ever met and most people are just suprised at the "lack of issues" we have. But I know a far more amount of moms who are uptight, and freaking about everything from eating a turkey sandwich to what color to paint the nursey and their kids are fussy, horrible sleepers and just completely different.

Obviously, all babies are different but I think pregnant women just need to stop sweating the small stuff and just enjoy pregancy!  At the end of the day no matter what stroller we buy or what crib bedding we decide the baby won't care and that is not what is going to make them happy-a happy stress free mom/dad is!  Just my thoughts...

Very well said! My sister is extremely high strung and so is my niece. I've always been pretty loosy goosy but watching my sister and niece really puts things in prospective for me. We have had some major issues with my MIL and stepFIL, that to be perfectly honest I'm finding really hard to deal with. But, we are doing our best. DH is extremely supportive!

Thank you for the recommendation! I will check that out. :-)

  • I just watched the segment with Dr. OZ and I loved what he had to say-if only all moms could hear him!  Stop the stress uptight mom=uptight baby!!! Plus, what he said about breast vs bottle feeding! Do what is best for your home and don't stress about it!

Plus what he said about obesity and kids weight gain-don't fight the battle at home fight it in the super market-don't let the bad foods in the home and they won't be eaten!! Love it!
