A different side sleep question

I know there have been a slew of posts in the last few weeks asking when we should start sleeping on our side.  The most common response has been that your body will let you know when it's no longer safe to sleep on your back.  For the past week, I have been getting horrible back pain while sleeping, which I originally blamed on my scoliosis (the pain is in the middle of my back, where the curvature is).  After reading all these posts about your body telling you when to stop sleeping on your back, I started to wonder.

So, my question is: for those of you who have gone through this before, what are the signals your body will give?  Is back pain one of them?

TIA

Re: A different side sleep question

  • Yes, I would think back pain during sleep would be a sign to switch positions.  I don't have back problems or scoliosis, but I do remember being uncomfortable on my back at some point in 2nd tri.  If I were you I'd experiment w different sleep positions right away to avoid further pain.  Try a pillow between your legs lying on your side.

  • Thanks for getting back to me.  For some reason I was thinking that the pain would be in the ute.  I will experiment tonight.
