HUGE step for FIL

He told us tonight his doc wants him to go for an inpatient detox. ?And he's thinking about it. ?He made all sorts of excuses why he won't go now, or next week, or bla bla bla. ?And in all honesty he will probably walk out if he does go. ?But he's actually considering it, and that's huge.

We told him we'd drop everything right now and go with him if he wanted us to, and that we agree w/the doc, etc. ?He was surprised that we wanted to help and I think he's leaning toward doing it now that he knows we're behind it, too. ?Also had a chat about his liver and how every single episode of his is consistent with cirrhosis symptoms, he agreed it was likely but didn't know if docs had ever tested for it. ?

All in all, I'm proud of him. ?We'll see how it goes. ?

thats great, its a step in the right direction. It would be nice if he goes through with it, but baby steps. Hopefully he'll get there.

I hope he will go.  My friend who is 18 years clean is a great role model for my kids, I met him when he was 3 months clean.  Maybe your FIL can find the way.

An amazing step in the right direction.  For him to even entertain the idea is... wow...  I'm hoping he goes through with it.  If not now, very, very soon.
