What a week. Friday night she mentioned a couple of times that her leg hurt. She seemed fine, walked fine, no fever. Didn't really think anything of it. Overnight into Saturday she kept waking up crying that her leg hurt, when she woke up Saturday she wouldn't put any weight on her right foot and when she did she would cry. So I called the docs, she still did not have a fever at this point. Saw the pedi at around noon on Saturday, she had a fever at this point and her right knee cap was swollen. They sent us right to the hospital. The rest of Saturday consisted of her knee getting more swollen (at it's largest I would say it was about 3 times the size that it should be), IV's, fluid draws and finally surgery at around 10:30 that night to remove the ragging infection that had invaded my little girl. Since then she has been on some heavy duty antibiotics and will be for a few weeks even when we go home.
We are now on Day 5 in the hospital, hopefully we are going home tomorrow. She seems back to her normal self and her levels are almost back to normal.
We still don't have all of the answers but I'm just so glad she is doing better. Please think good thoughts for Keira and that she continues to improve.
Re: In the hospital with Keira. We've been here since Saturday. :(

OMG, what an ordeal for you and poor little Keira.
I hope she feels better soon and comes home with you.
((HUGS))
wow, it's so good they caught it quick. I have an adult friend who fell and cut her elbow. It got infected and by the time she got to the hospital and they figured it out the infection ran thru her entire body and 'killed' her extremities. She ended up losing 1 foot, 3 toes on the other foot and one hand. She almost lost her life.
That's probably an extreme case, but you just never know!! Glad Keira is ok. Did they say where the infection came from?
Oh my goodness, that's horrible! Lots of hugs for Keira, and you too!!!
omg scary. T&P sent your way. (((hugs))) to your family.
