has anyone on this board bought wool & knitted their own wool soakers?? i think this may be the cheaper route to go for me. BUT i've never knitted before. i dont know where to start. lol. any help would be appreciated! TIA!
If you've never knitted before I think it might be difficult, but doable, esp. if you have someone to walk you through it. An easier and faster way would be to purchase wool sweaters at the Goodwill and cut them into covers.
well.. my mom's next door neighbor (like our "built-in" grandma..) is a knitter.. i may have her walk me through it, or even have her do it for me! but, i'm bored at home sometimes, so i thought i would experiment.
Re: wool covers / diy
I knit DS a pair of longies and I'm a somewhat new knitter. It was the most complex project I've done to date.
If you can sew it would easy to use a wool sweater to make a soaker. Here's a free pattern that I've used with lots of success.

You don't have to knit to make your own - you can felt a thrift store wool sweater, and then just cut and sew.
I haven't done it yet, but I plan to.

Buying real wool to knit is actually pretty expensive.
