Cloth Diapering

"Cold calls" from other GMs on FB?

Maybe I'm just being hormonal (and you can tell me if I am, because I'm having a bad day as it is), but isn't it rude to just up and PM someone and ask them if they're willing to part with a specific GM print? I mean...if I wanted to give it to someone, don't you think I'd either post that I wanted to sell or trade it or I'd find someone whose ISO list it was on, right?!?

Anyway...some mama just PM'd me on FB and said "So and so said you had this print and maybe you'd be willing to part with it. Are you?" Is it just me, or is that rude? Super Angry

  • I would of replied  "Yes, for 1 million dollars!"  LOL

  • I don't think it's rude.  Then again, I operate on the thought that "it never hurts to ask!"

Well I did respond nicely, at least. I just sorta figure if people want to give things to someone else, they'd offer it...ya know?

  • I dont think its rude from the person that PM'd you. I think it's more rude of "so and so" to offer your dipe up though. Is it common practice to keep "tabs" on who has what diapers? This kind of makes me want to never post a stash shot.

I'm inclined to agree with this.  Most of the women on that page are into the whole buy-sell-trade thing and are of the mentality that everything has a price... and some are willing to pay or trade big for certain items.  If you don't want that to happen, you can set your privacy settings up so that only people who are friends with you can send you a PM.  That should take care of it!  :)

This is sort of along the lines of what I was thinking. DH and I have scored quite a few of the HTF prints in the stockings we stalked together, and it sorta makes me not want to mention what DD's wearing or w/e anymore so that I don't get crud like that.

I know I can set my privacy but I like to leave it like it is so that if someone wants to add me as their friend and I don't know who they are, they can send me a message and other things like that. It allows me to communicate with people on there without having to friend them.

  • Eh, I don't think its rude. I'd just say something like "I'm not really interested in any trades or selling but thanks anyway." You never know though, it could have been a print you weren't in love with and they might have had something you'd like more... that's why it never hurts to ask. :)

We all know you're not getting rid of your GMs. :) And if you do, I already called dibs. :-P haha
