Babies: 6 - 9 Months

If you make baby food...

Do you use a food mill? If so, what kind?

I've been using my mini food processor but I don't feel like it gets smooth enough. Still a little too chunky.

Thanks!

  • I bought a cuisinart food processor for half price on black friday and it does an awesome job. i wish i had something that steamed too but i could not see spending the money on those hitech gadgets just for babyfood.

Have you looked into vegetable steamer baskets?  I got one for $10, and it works with regular sauce pans.  It's great and super cheap!

  • I use the Magic Bullet and LOVE it!

I got one for $5 at Walmart and it holds a ton.

I just use a mini food processor and let DD eat it chunky, but small bites.  She never got purees, so it's not like she knew any different.  I just skipped that step.

  • I use a Beaba Babycook for most things.  If I am only making a small amount (like a package of blueberries for example) my Magic Bullet purees everything very smooth!

I saw an infomercial for the "Baby Bullet" yesterday. It comes with a bowl attatchment to make batches and all the stuff necessary to freeze it. I'm considering it...

  • Thanks everyone. I think I'll try my processor again and see if I can get it smoother.

I can't wait to see his tooth and see him crawling! I have an immersion blender, maybe that would work. I don't have a real one...no space. I've been steaming things in the basket and that does work well. I should bring all my steamed veggies over and use your blender :)

We've given solids a very half-asssed attempt. Rice cereal - she hated. Carrots and butternut squash were better but I got nervous about the chunks. I'll text you a picture of her with the rice cereal. Her expression says it all!

  • I use the Magic Bullet too! Awesome job.  I like my mini food processor (20 bucks) for doing the chicken because it does it quicker.
