I purchased the Moby when my DD was a newborn, but never had much luck with it. It was cumbersome to put on and my DD never seemed comfortable in it. With #2 on the way I'm looking for something else. I would like a carrier that especially works well for newborns as that will give me some hands free time to get things done around the house and tend to DD while I'm on maternity leave.
Please share what carrier you used and if you liked it.
Re: Did you use a baby carrier?
The Ergo. You can get the infant insert for it to use with the new LO. It can be used for a very long time as well. I think it says it can hold up to 90 lbs (not that you would) on their website. I know people who use it and their kids are 3-4 years old. My DS is 17 months and I am just switching to that one now.
I had a Moby and could never get it tied just right. DD would start to slouch in it, she would eventually over-heat and cry. My back was starting to hurt after only a short walk etc.
I got the Ergo and eliminated all those problems. My daughter is 22 lbs now and I have no problem carrying her in it. The weight is evenly distributed on the hips, not so much on the back and shoulders.
I agree - get the Ergo! I didn't get mine until DD was like 10 months old and I wish I had gotten it sooner. We only had the Bijorn till then - the Bijorn is fine when they are little, but when they get older it kills your back!

Another Ergo lover here!
For the newborn/little baby age, a mei tai works well too. Or a sling like the hotsling-I have quite a few friends who swear by their hotslings. I have a sevenslings sling (similar to the hotsling), but I didn't get it until a few months ago so I have no experience with it for little babies.
