3rd Trimester

headaches

For the past few weeks I've been getting headaches, on & off, throughout the day.  I was thinking it's from dehydration.... as I know I've been slacking with drinking water, but I'm not sure.  I have a wicked headache now, so I just downed two huge glasses of water, hoping it'll help. I did mention it at my doctor's apt last week, she didn't seem worried. I'm going to mention it again at this weeks apt. Anyone else experiencing headaches as they approach the end of pregnancy?

Re: headaches

  • Oh yes! I was going to post a similar question because I've been having these horrible headaches and been thinking "labor will be worse, I need to forego Tylenol and suck it up." Last night however I ended up taking one Tylenol, couldn't suck it up anymore. They even wake me up in the middle of the night. I don't have any BP issues and haven't had any ever, so I'm assuming I'm fine. Been trying to drink lots of water, but can't hold water or tea down. I puke them, but not other drinks. It's really weird. So as long as you're able to hold yours, try to drink water and wait 30 minutes. If your headache is gone, it's from lack of water. Or at least that's the trick they taught me.

  • Yes! I had these short-lived, scary headaches that happened periodically throughout the day. They were definitely on the high-end of the pain scale (I usually get menstrual migraines, so I'm used to the whole headache deal- but they're supposed to stop when you're pregnant!)

I met with a few doctors who all told me they'd stop after the pregnancy and advised me to keep my eye on:

    hydration levels

    sleep amounts

    stress.

I think stress was the real culprit, because having a few weeks off of work at Christmas almost completely cured me.

  • Lately, I have been having horrible headaches too. In the past 24 hours I've had four that wrap around my head and go down my neck. I just called the on-call nurse to see what she says. I've never had high BP either and hate taking any medicine, but this is unbearable.!
