What chore do you suck at?

Laundry is like a thorn in my side. Working full time with three kids and no husband, it falls to the very bottom of my priority list. I can get stuff down to the basement, washed, dried and even folded, but then it never makes it upstairs. I end up running to the basement every day to get us clean clothes so that we can get dressed. I finally decided tonight to start bringing it up and am embarrassed to admit that I am putting shorts and tank tops away. I live in the NE, we haven't worn shorts in months Tongue Tied

  • I also have to say laundry.  I can put it in the washer and dryer all day but folding it and putting it away is a different story.  I actually enjoy other cleaning chores.

  • I despise scrubbing the kitchen/diningroom floors. It takes forever, it's uncomfortable, my DH makes unwelcome comments when I do it so I always wait until he's not around - further postponing an unwelcome task. I'd get one of those Scuba robot scrubbers if I thought they actually worked.

How do you clean them? Have you tried a steam mop?

I would have to say with me it's probably the floors, too. I vacuum the wood floors (which is a lot) and then mop them. It's not like I can vacuum one day or even in the morning and then mop in the evening or the next day. It needs to be done back to back or I am just pushing around dirt. And while I am doing all of this vacuuming and mopping my kids are tearing up the rest of the place.

  • All of them!  Cleaning is really not my thing.  I think putting laundry away is at the top of my list as well though. I have several baskets of clothes sitting in the bedroom right now.

  • Floors. Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping. With 2 animals, 2 kids, And 2 parents who are home 24/7, it's a chore that should be done daily at most, weekly at least. It ends up getting done monthly at best. Laundry is the one chore I'm pretty good at. I've never been one to leave laundry folded in baskets once cleaned. I feel like I have a pretty good system that helps the process be more efficient. We might be buying a new house and it will have a 2nd floor laundry. I'm tickled about it because I already have ideas of making the process even more efficient! ETA: Have you ever considered one of those laundry drop-off places that charge by the pound. Obviously that would get expensive if you dropped off everything but maybe just take in the essentials.

  • sweeping and mopping, dh enjoys tracking his boots through the house and whatevers stuck to the bottom of em ends up on my floor, then theres the guinea pig who enjoys flinging his poo out of his cage, the dog who rolls in the leaves that get stuck to her back that she feels she needs to shake off once she gets in the house! haha oh and dishes oh god do i hate dishes with a passiion!! lol. oh and then when i am sweepeing and mopping i have to yell at the kitten to stop attacking the broom haha and then the pile  of dirt lol then i gotta make sure she doesnt get into the water bucket. lol yea sweeping and mopping in this house is fun!

I scrub them on my hands and knees. :( I always felt like the mop just pushed all the dirt to the corners, so when we moved a few years ago I switched to just scrubbing them. I've thought about the steam mops but I've never known if they actually work. Do you have one? Can I please stop scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees?!

Yes. We have this one.  When I get to actually use it, I love it. I vacuum at least 3 times a week, but don't get to mopping that much because of the kids.

  • Laundry is mine, too. I hate folding it and putting it away.  Folding is one chore I hand out as a consequence for bad behavior.  Unfortunately, my boys are pretty good, and I don't get help as often as I'd like.

  • Cleaning the bathroom (shower specifically - the other stuff doesn't bother me much) and mopping.

  • All of them.  I have chore ADD.  I start something, then see something, and I'm all, "ooooh!  Shiny!" and  all bets are off.

  • I LOVE vacuuming and mopping. Good thing, b/c with 2 kids, 2 dogs and both of us home a lot, my floors are always full of crumbs.  However, I despise emptying the dishwasher.   It takes forever, kids are all in there, dogs are trying to lick everything...it drives me batty.

  • I hate my floors.  They are off white tile.  With 2 dogs, DD, DH (who works from home) and his guys coming through our house everyday, they seem like they are never clean.  I would like to kick whomever picked out this tile!
  • Laundry. Like pp, I don't mind washing/drying, but despise folding/hanging/putting away.
  • Dusting. It's so overwhelming. I finally do it, which feels like a Herculean effort, and then before I know it it's time to do it again.

Brightning, I recently got the Eureka steam mop and I freaking love that thing. I, too, had resorted to scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees (picture me doing this while nine months pregnant- not a pretty sight) and I no longer do that.

  • I hate mopping with a passion. I even have an awesome steam mop, but I just never get around to actually getting it out, i HATE HATE HATE it! Oh and I would rather stab myself in the eye than vacuum the stairs.

I think mopping does push stuff up to the edge and corners.  What I do is I mop everywhere then go back and go around the baseboards (and spot clean if I notice something I missed) on my hands and knees.

I love to vacuum and mop (well, I have a steam mop) dust, dishes etc but absolutely loathe doing laundry.  The washing/drying isnt bad its the matching up all the outfits because Im ocd.  If it came or was bought as an outfit I have to put it back that way.  I fold the shirt and the pants and then put them in the drawers or hang it up that way.  UGh.  Then add that I have TWO of almost every outfit or something very similar since I have twin girls it drives me insane.  Ls laundry is so much easier.  So a lot of the time Ls laundry gets all put away and the girls laundry stays in a basket.  :(  I HATE MATCHING OUTFITS but I cant stop!  :(

I also hate picking up toys.  Not the act of picking them up but putting them away.  I have to have things sorted and organized.  I have bins for the kids toys but they never put things away in an organized way.  It makes me anxious to walk in and see all their toys mixed up and not sorted.  (pony stuff in the pony box, barbies in the babie box, cars with cars, etc.)  I really need to get over it but cant.  I usually take 1 day a week and re-organize the toys.....for no reason because shortly after I finish the kids tear them all out and throw them back in whatever box they feel.

This.  It has been weeks since I put it away.   I would rather spend time with L.

Ugh, this is for me too! What's worse is that the sitter thinks she's helping by cleaning up the toys at the end of the day, but really, she puts them all in the wrong bins, so after the kids go to bed at night, I have to dump them all out and reorganize them. It's a sickness! LOL

  • All of it. I am outstanding at maintaining clean once it happens, but when it gets out of control, I have hard time catching up.

It's a major issue for someone as compulsively organized as I am. Major stress.

But if I had to pick one, the putting away of laundry is my real downfall.

  • Cleaning windows,  I cannot clean windows for the life of me.  They streak and look worse than before I tried to clean them.
  • Bathrooms - ugh!!  I love the feeling of accomplishment I get when they're all freshly cleaned and shiny, especially the big tub that I have to climb in and practically do laps to get the entire thing clean (HA!  I keed, I keed)...but it seems like the minute that I'm done, somehow there's toothpaste all over the sinks and faucets again, or DS has peed along the rim of the toilet, or something.  Blech.
  • Laundry is actually my favorite chore because I am dealing with clean things...I HATE bathrooms.  I do not clean them.  DH does the bathrooms and knows it is his job.  I will wipe the counters but getting in the tub and doing toilets and floors - no thank you.  In college I worked in a hotel cleaning the rooms and I would always find a partner that liked bathrooms - I did all the beds and main parts of rooms and they did all baths.  When I had to do the bathrooms I gagged everytime.
