asap help---rash

i just changed DDs diaper, and she has a HUGE rash everywhere--from her vagina/butt, up her stomach, chest and on her head (not face). should we go to the ER? she has had a fever the past few days, but not today. i am running the bath water now, but WWYD? tia

  • Fever followed by rash sounds like roseola, and if thats what it is then dont worry. The worst is over and a roseola rash should not be bothersome for your LO. DD had high fever for 3-4 days then rash for a few days after.
  • Ditto Roseola.  Don't worry the rash is not bothersome  but FYI the bath may make the rash a little worse.  I would hold off on a bath until tomorrow.  The rash only lasts 1-3 days.

  • I don't know much about roseola, but agree with pp on the bath. It'll probably make it worse.

  • Is there a nurse call line at your Pedi? Or can you call a doc. just to ask what they think? Sounds like it might be nothing (based on PPs) but I would want to find out  from her doctor.

  • Jacob had Roseola when he was younger and it started as a pretty high fever for a couple days then after it broke it got a body rash...there was nothing we could do for it except try to manage the fever.
