Are warts painful? Something else maybe?

When I was just putting socks on DS I noticed this weird "bump" where his big toe meets his foot. It is white and raised and feels firm, approximately the size of a pencil eraser. He FREAKED when I tried to touch it, told me that it hurt and was crying hysterically the entire time I was trying to look at it. I had warts on my hand as a young teen, but don't remember them hurting at all. Of course, my other thought is an abscess, but it isn't red or swollen around it and I don't want to run off to the ER unnecessarily.

I was trying to get a picture, but the poor kid was just so upset. Any other ideas?

i had a plantar wart and it hurt like a mother if i stepped on it a certain way.

Probably a wart.  They do hurt, according to my sister.

Mine have never hurt but from your description it does sound like one.  My only other thought would be a splinter or something in his foot.

yes! these hurt. regular bump ones don't.
