This child is a PEANUT

Scarlett had her 4m appointment today.

She is 12lbs, 8oz (10-25%), 24.5 inches (50-75%).

Let's just compare that to Jackson, the original beast child, at 4m.

17lbs, 5oz (75-90%) and 27.5 inches (greater than 95%).

I need a mental adjustment so I can guess right on clothing sizes to buy.  Gah.

And here she is, today, in all her peanut glory:

PS - this pose is what happens when big brother was sitting next to you for a photo op but then jumped up to do something else because he was tired of the camera.  Little sister tends to topple over.  ;)

  • Adorable! Anneliese had the same stats at her 4 month appt, minus the 8 oz. She has definitely thrown me off of my buying ahead game.

  • How can she be four months old already??? I can't believe how precious she is.

How's the reflux? I hope it's gone away.

  • I think I've said this before to you, but I have that same situation. In fact, when DD was weighed and measured for her 3-year appointment, the doctor even commented "Boy, you couldn't have two kids with more different body types." DS is off the top of the charts - always has been. DD is around 25th percentile for both height and weight. He weighed more at one than she does now... She's a sweetie!
  • Cute.  Enjoy your peanut.  They are easier on your back!  DD was 13 pounds 6 oz at 9 months.  She was super small, she gets mistaken for a 3 year old all the time, by other 3 year olds.
  • xti - first of all, LOVE your sig pics, the kids are darling!  And second of all, what is up with these girlies throwing us off our game?  I can't even buy for spring right now - I swear she's still going to be wearing 3-6m.  I bought some 6-12m but I think I might exchange it... sigh.

Yes, ginandtonic!  It's like we have the same kids, size wise!  :)  It's such an adjustment.

Femme - her reflux is still going on, but I'm hopeful we're in the home stretch.  It's medicated and we thicken her bottles, so while the spit up can get old, I don't have too much to complain about!

JOE - funnily enough, with Jackson (who like I mentioned, was a beast), I had terrible back issues from the time he was 7m until about 12m (when he started walking).  I did physical therapy and it helped, but I was in a lot of pain for quite awhile.

  • Adorable!  DS has always been my little one.  Tall, but a rail.  DD was always a very, shall we say, solidly built, child.  He throws me for a loop too!  It's so funny to not see the buddha belly in the bath!
  • awwwwww she such a cute peanut!

Hey quick question....my grandson at his 4 month appt. weighs 18lbs 2oz & 26.5 inches long.  His pedi said he's borderline obese & they should think about cutting back his feedings.  WTF????  I dont think he's obese at all...just a big chunky baby.

Did you pedi ever say anything like that to you?

  • James was 11lbs at 4 months (an October baby) and wore 3-6 month clothes until he was 11 months old, so right through the spring and summer! I learned my lesson about buying ahead with him. Now Mac (also an October baby) is about to bust out of 3-6 months stuff so I have had to buy him all new clothes and have hardly used any of James' old stuff since it is all the wrong season. I have liked the shopping though :-) She is adorable!
  • ahhh too cute!!

  • Ethan and Bella are like that...obviously you know Ethan's huge for his age, and Bella's super tiny. It's cute, though. Maile's huge like Ethan.

The best was when this lady asked if they were twins...Ethan was right around a year, and 35ish lbs, and Bella was a few weeks old and about 7 lbs. Seriously.

  • Cute!  I never got to experience a tiny baby.  My DD was 18 lbs at 4m, and DS was 19 lbs 2 oz.  DD is still...solid...at 3.5 years old, but DS has slimmed down to a string bean at 21m.  He's only gained 9 lbs since he was 4 months old and grown 11 inches.
  • LOL, GHM!  It's funny my brother and I often got asked that (well our mom did) because I was older, but we were always about the same size even though I had 2 years on him.  There's a picture of me holding him and I am about 2.5 and he is 6m.  My mom said we weighed the same at that point, haha!  He totally looks like he's the same size as me even though he is on my lap.

wellfleet - it's seriously crazy to have a tiny baby after having a baby that was so big, all the time!  My back might be thanking me, though...

  • She's beautiful!

DD2 ended up being much smaller than DD1 which threw me off too! They are complete opposite seasons though so it sort of worked out because I could re-use a bunch of Grace's things (stuff Grace wore at 9 months is fitting Emi at 15 months). Maybe the spring 6-12 clothing will work for her come fall!

  • DD was 10lbs, 10oz. at her 2 month check up. And only 21.5 inches.  She was born at full term only weighing 5lbs, 8 oz., so it took her a while to catch up.  She was always in the lowest percentiles.

At 4 months she was barely 13 lbs.

But now - she's totally par with everyone in her preschool and sprouted like a weed over the summer!
