Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Moby Wrap?

DS is 19 lbs and I am looking into a carrier since we just switched to the convertible car seat. Does anyone still use their Moby? Opinions? This is the one I am thinking of. I just don't want to waste money, but it would be nice to be have the use of my hands. :)

Re: Moby Wrap?

  • We still use ours with DD.  She was 16lbs at her 6 month checkup and is now 8 months.  I'm not sure of her weight right now though.  I love the moby wrap

  • I would not get the Moby b/c it's stretchy and hard to tie tight enough with a bigger baby (for newborns it's wonderful).  If I were you I'd look into getting an Ergo or Beco...soft structured carriers that allow you to carry LO on your front or back.  I have the Beco Butterfly and it's great and easy to use.

  • i swore by my moby when my dd was a newborn.  Now that she is older, I LOVE my ergo.  I find that it is more sturdy and allows her to move around a bit more then the moby.

This exactly! Highly recommend the Ergo.

This.  Even though your LO is under the weight limit, it's not a good option for you.  It won't be very comfortable and you probably wouldn't get much use out of it.  I love the Moby but when DS hit 17-18 pounds it started getting uncomfortable for both of us.  We're going to switch to an Ergo or Beco.

  • I love the Moby wrap and still use it occasionally for our 16 1/2 lb girl but I wouldn't invest in one at this stage. Get a sturdier version, the moby is just fabric and stretches making it perfect for being snuggly for a newborn but it gets uncomfy for mama as they get bigger.
  • I have the Moby, Ergo, and the Bjorn, and I like the Ergo and the Moby the best. I like the Moby because DS can face out, and he's super nosy and wants to see everything that's going on. When I have him in the ergo he's facing me and craning his neck to see where we're going the whole time. But it's better for longer walks. I think the Moby is better for short term things, like the grocery store, etc. The Bjorn is just uncomfortable for me  - too much strain on my upper body.

I'm 6 feet tall, so I think I have more "room" to wrap the moby, so maybe that's why if works better for me?

  • i agree with cassie730 that it is just preference - i dont have a moby, but i have a k'tan which is similar and i still use it with my lo at about 20lbs.
  • Both DS and I love our Beco! I highly recommend it- plus it has some pretty cute options for patterns.
