You have to buy TAG books, which are about $13. Then, you d/l the text from the internet, onto the pen. DD got one for Christmas and loves it. We just got the TAG Jr. for DS (2 yrs) because he always wants DD's, but the Jr. has board books and a bigger pen, so I feel like it'll be better for him, a little hardier.
DD and DS1 both have a Tag. You have to use TAG books. Most are $13 but you can find 5 dollar off coupons and specials. Kohl's had their TAGs on clearance yesterday for 19.99 and if you have a Kohl's coupon...you can get it cheaper. They also had BOGO 1/2 off books.
We have the Tag (the 8 mb & the 16 mb) and the Tag Jr. That current Tag is 32mb I think. It's about $40 most places.
The books are about $13, but Target and TRU both often have them on sale for $10, and you can find $3 off coupons online almost anytime. So for $7, it's not any worse than buying any other book. Also, there's more than just a story in the book. Most have the ability to read the story by the page or by touching each word as well as games (rhyming, matching, counting, making words, etc). Both of my kids really love them. There are also Learn to Read book sets, and now they also have maps and flash card-like things.
