Peeing in an insanely small cup when you can't see past the belly

Although I am a recovering PIAC addict from the bfp and years of ttc, the cups at my OB's office are quite surely the SMALLEST I have ever seen. I kid you not I think they're 1 1/2 inches around. Don't you think with pregnant people they could make the target a littttttle bigger? Especially since the bathroom is in the waiting room and I am a timid tinkler to begin with. So at my next appt. I have decided to bring a funnel or big ol' round cup and transfer the pee. Sterile catch or not I'm tired of peeing on my hand.

  • This made me giggle a little! Not at you but with you. The things that seemed like nothing before are monumentally difficult now.

This ! Definitely brought a smile to my face .. the things they don't consider.

  • Haha, I was just complaining to DH that I'm getting tired of peeing on my hand. And it's worse now considering the appts are every 2wks.

  • I am not looking forward to my Dr's appt on Tuesday because of this fact.  They use like shot-glass sized cups for samples.  Help a girl out people!

Also, while we're on toilet talk...For some reason, I have no issues using my toilet at home and being able to maneuver around my belly to wipe and whatnot, but the toilets at work give me fits.  I hate public bathroom/commercial toilets.

  • i've been bringing a disposable plastic party cup since about week 16 when i peed on my hand and my pants trying to get it in the cup.

  • I absolutely feel your pain. Not only do I have to scrub my hands afterwards, but I have to wipe down the outside of the pee cup. Yuck.

  • I feel you.  I always have to wash pee off my hand and wipe off the cup.  I hate it.

  • Mine is a decent size and I still manage to miss the cup.  I can never get the forceful pee needed to fill one of those suckers...I'm guessing its nerves or something? Yuck.

  • The ones in my office aren't THAT small but I still pee all over myself and I always have to wipe the cup off afterwards..the sad thing is that I can still see down there pretty well..

  • The cup I get sounds much bigger than yours, but I still manage to miss!  We all share your frustration!!  It also seems like the water in the toilet is much higher than it should be so I'm also afraid that I'm going to end up sticking my hand and the cup into the toilet bowl water...EEW!!
  • Whew! At least I'm not alone! It's the little things you never realize will be impossible to do. DH's side of the couch is a lot more smooshed down than mine and I was sitting next to him last night letting him feel LO's kicks. When I went to get up I realized I was stuck for the first time. Other times it's been awkward and i have to grunt it out, but I was actually stuck in the seat. No amount of rocking back and forth could get me the momentum. I asked if he would mind giving a girl a push and he laughed at me as he did it, so I told him if his giant a$$ hadn't killed his side of the couch I wouldn't have this problem now and stormed (waddled angrily) off.

  • Haha! I love the idea of bringing your own funnel to your doctor's appointment! That's ballsy! and practical too!
  • If I read this post last week, I would have thought "what are all these crazy ladies talking about"? but at my trip to the drs this week I had a hard time for the first time. I missed so much I felt like I didn't get enough in the cup! I can only imagine how difficult it's going to get later in the pregnancy.
  • Ok, so this is what I do, ladies. It may not work for all but if it helps just one hand remain urine-free, then my work here is done:

I take the rim of the cup and push it 'gently' up by my lady parts so it creates a vacuum of sorts, then I pee. I tried it at today's appointment and voila, not a wet hand or wet toilet seat in sight.

    You're welcome. ;)

That's what I USED to do and it's worked wonderfully! But it seems like with such a small cup I always miss even if I try to suction it up there! Plus, having a shy bladder, it still doesn't always work if you can't get up a good enough stream... still manages to trickle away and on to the hand.
