Hey all,
I am just very sad and angry my cat was hit by car on Wednesday morning after myself and my DH had left for work. Although people saw him lying in the bushes by the side of the complex road no-one did anything except leave a written message for me under the door saying they thought he had been hurt and was lying under the tree. His face was cover with blood and he was not moving and you THINK he has been hurt???? By the time we got home after work all we could do for him was take him to the vet (Yes he was still breathing) and have him put down because his back was broken and because of the lack of attention they thought he was probably brain dead as he had suffered a head injury from the accident. I go between feeling very sad and very very angry at people's lack of compassion. The vet is not even a block away from where we live and no-one thought to take him in or even call them about it. The vet said she would have come and fetched him if they had called. Also the neighbour that left the message has my cell number in case of an emergency and did not call me to say Hi you need to come home to deal with this. I hate to think of him left lying there like a piece of trash suffering. He was a living breathing creature not trash. Sorry I am just still overwhelmed that people can just disregard something so small and helpless that was oviously hurt. Luckily we are moving to a new place so I don't have to wonder which heartless person hit him and just drove off without a thought. Anyways thanks for letting me vent. Hope you all have a great day and weekend
Re: NBR: My cat was hit by a car!! Long
I am so sorry! I have had my cat for 13 years. A few weeks ago I was home to wait for the carpet cleaning man to show up. While he was cleaning carpets he left my front door open the entire time. Once he left I could not find Aggie. I was the only one left at the house and during the time the carpets were being cleaned she ran from room to room and I thought she might have darted out the front door. She is not an outside kitty, she's only lived inside and she's declawed. I walked the neighborhood in the cold and rain calling for her since I couldn't find her inside. I was so upset and knew I'd feel lost if she wasn't with me at home. I texted DH and told him I couldn't find her and when I got back home she meowed. She was so scared she hid behind DH's pillow and that's a new hiding place for her. I was so happy she was ok.
I know how cruel people are in our subdivision and I could only imagine Aggie being treated the same way your cat was. It's horrible to think people have no compassion at all for animals.
I am so sorry for your loss as I know how heart broken I would be if that happened to me.
That's terrible! My cat was hit by a car about 2 years ago. The neighbor who found him did not know that he was mine, but he called the police and they took him to the animal hospital. I had put a sign up on our mailboxes asking if anyone had found a cat and my neighbor was nice enough to call me and tell me... I was able to track down the animal hospital they took him to, but unfortunately he had died on the way there.
It breaks my heart that no one helped your cat... at least they could have called the police or the animal hospital. I'm sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry. I would be crushed if anything happened to my furbaby. I've had him for more than 10 years and he's my shadow. He's an inside cat and declawed. We live on the edge of a forest that has coyotes, etc. I know if he ever got out, he wouldn't have a chance. DH has already said he's not doing to know what to when he dies because he knows how much it will effect me.
I can't believe no one helped your kitty. I'd feel the same way you do, sad and angry.

I'm so sorry!! Some people just don't understand the bond we have with our animals. I still love and miss every cat and dog I have ever had, and some people have never felt that unconditional love between a furbaby and his/her mom/dad. The only thing I would think is they thought the poor thing was killed instantly, but that really is no excuse if your neighbor knew enough to put a note on your door and had your phone number!! I would definitely try to find a way of telling that neighbor that if he/she had called, your kitty might have survived. And maybe next time, they will make the call!
On the other hand of providing some solice, there is an endless supply of catnip and scratching posts for the little kitty now!
