We go to Pediatric Associates of Madison...it's right across Hughes Rd from Dr. Keller's office, next to Colonial Grand of Madison. We use Dr. Meadows...there are 6 doctors in the practice but only Dr. Bryant and Dr. Meadows were taking new patients back when I got Aubrey in. Since then they have added a new doctor, can't remember the name though.
Love them. They have gotten me in, no problems when Aubrey has been sick, they are open Saturday's as well, and they are extremely organized and friendly.
They don't do any alternative vaccination schedules, however. Don't know what your stance on that is, it didn't bother me because I am okay with the standard vaccine schedule.
I didn't do a pedi interview to be honest. I just didn't know to do that. However, they do do them there so you can request one. I had gotten several recommendations for them and for Cornerstone (which is near there as well) from several ladies at church and a couple of other friends and I just went with them. I just went in and filled out insurance info and such.
They asked me when I went in to HH to be induced who my pedi was and they called them when A was born. I met Dr. Meadows the next morning after she was born.
Good luck! The most important thing is that you click with your pedi and feel like you can trust them.
We use our NP, because I was at Pediatric Associates. My child has asthma and we saw Dr. Zbell, and she was either never there or didn't have any appointments when I needed to get in for a sick visit.
There was one particular week we were in there 3 times and I saw 3 different doctors. I didn't like it so we moved.
I know there are many people happy there, just wanted to share my two cents .
We used to use Huntsville Pediatrics but after they refused to see Jake during an allergic reaction we switched to Fields Pediatrics and I couldn't be happier. They are smaller and you know who you will see everytime. I also didn't like hsv peds because we always waited at least an hour after appointments before we were seen and I couldn't stand that. I also felt like they just kind of rushed us through once we were seen. At Fields we have never waited more than 10 min. before being seen
We've used Field Pedriatrics from day one. We had a little sit down with them when I was pregnant and went over my "pregnancy history". They are just absolutely wonderful....it's a husband and wife team. They have a no-appointment necessary walk-in hour every week day from 8 to 9AM if you think your LO is sick. They are on call 24/7 and if they don't call back, one of the other 2 doctors that they share calls with, call back within 30min. of your original call. I know that soon2bemrsagee (Lindsay) uses them as well as several IRL friends of mine.
If you call Madison Pediatrics, I believe the only Dr. taking new patients is Dr. Magnuson. She was our pediatrician and I loved her at first but she has no kids of her own and she could not relate to anything I was going through. Every time I asked her a question she would either quote the AAP or charts. There's more to the story that I can tell you if your interested. Therefore we have switched to Cornerstone Pediatrics which is basically across the street. We haven't had a visit with them yet but I've heard lots of good things about them.
We also use Field Pedi and love them! I am so happy I went there on a recommendation. I love the practice for many reasons but here is just one prime example:
Yesterday, Lyla was sick. I didn't know if I should take her in or not so I called. I talked to the receptionist and then the nurse right then. No waiting for them to call back. This was at 2:30pm. They asked how quick I could get there and if before 3 they would get me in to see the Dr before his 2 new patient appts at 3 as well. I got there at 3:05 and Dr. Scott was standing at the reception desk waiting for us. He took us right back. The nurse was tied up and instead of making us wait, HE took us back. He looked her over and we talked and then he left. The nurse came back and did a test, blah blah blah. We were in and out and didn't have to wait and they answered all my questions and not once did I feel rushed. That's just the kind of service you get there. I love it! Oh and she was not a medical emergency! They treat you like family not just a number.

Allison, I am so glad you switched to FP!! They are great!!
We see dr Ellis at Huntsville pediatrics associates and we haven't had any issues. I love they are open 365 days a year! They have a separate sick/well waiting area which I really appreciate.
They don't do alternate vaccine schedules and they don't do rounds at cw hospital if you deliver there but neither of those bothered me.
Dr Ellis is younger and has young kids so it really is nice to talk to someone who is going thru the same thing I am. They also have a lab on sight so they can ge you test results asap.
