I also confess that I think Story is pretty. But I wouldn't use it--even if I could handle the looks/comments, I don't know if my kid could. I'm sure some kids thrive with an unusual name, but other kids are going to hate it, and I wouldn't want to take that chance.

My SIL (brother's wife) has a niece named Story. She is in her late 20s, and she's always liked her name.  I think it is pretty and unusual without being too out there. It is not a name I would choose, but I don't think it's awful.

You've mentioned Fable before, and I'm having a hard time assigning a sex to it (I suppose word names are unisex). Anyway, can you please PM me the link to the blog with the girl named, Fable...I'm super curious.

At least they didn't spell it Storie, Storey, Storee or try to make it cre8ive. I don't mind it so much.

This is my guilty pleasure name.  I adore it.  But it's NMS at all and I'd never have the balls to use it.

I don't mind it so much (though I'd never use it). I've heard it enough that it doesn't seem 100% out there; it's easy to say & spell, and it's pretty.

The weirdness is that it's a word name & not traditional, but with all the crazy out there in naming these days... it could be a lot worse than Story.

I agree, I don't think it's that bad of a name to come across as a "I know one person with this name" name, kind of like how I know a girl my age named Buick.  But it's starting to become trendy ever since Jenna Elfman used it and Minnie Driver used it (as a middle name).  What's funny is that I think if it was to be used I'd think of it as a girls' name, but they used it on boys, and I'm usually a "kind of feminine names are okay on boys" type of person.

My friend named her baby Story. At first I thought it was really weird but it grew on me. I first heard it on that Lady in the Water mermaid movie.
