Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Speaking of sleeping vs. eating: What is your toddler's schedule like?

The previous post about obechicks son sleeping too much/not eating enough got me thinking. This has been M's schedule for quite awhile:

She sleeps 12-14 hours at night. She has 6oz of milk with cereal & a fruit for breakfast & goes down for her AM nap about 2 hours after waking. She'll sleep about 1.5 hr. She'll eat lunch (fruit or veggie, sandwich or meat) about half an hour after she wakes up from her nap & then nap again about 3 hours later. Then she'll eat dinner (main dish, side, veggie) when we do & has a 6oz bottle at bedtime. So basically this is her schedule:

9:30 wake up, breakfast

11:30am- nap

1pm- wake up

1:30pm- lunch

4pm- nap

6pm- wake up, dinner

8pm- bottle

8:30pm- bed

rinse & repeat.

She also has snacks (puffs, dried fruit, cereal, crackers) throughout the day. I'm not worried about her sleep or her eating & neither is her pedi so far. The kid just loves sleep. I've tried to skip a nap & she is ALWAYS cranky when that happens!

Anyone else's toddler sleep/eat about the same? It seems every toddler on this board only sleep 10 hours at night with one nap. M would be a hot mess if she did that!

  • 7:30 Wake up/formula

    8:00 Breakfast

    10:00 Snack

    1:00 Nap

    3:00 Wake up/formula

    4:00 Snack

    7:30 Bedtime

She wakes up at least once between 4:30-6:30 a.m. to nurse.  Lately though her sleep has been crappy at night.

  • Weekdays are a tad different from weekends.  We have to wake him up to leave at 7am on weekdays...weekends he'll sleep until 8 or 8:30am (but everything else is basically the same).

    7am - wake

    7:30am - sippy of milk

    8:30am - breakfast

10:30 or 11am - sippy of milk before nap

    11am - 1 or 2pm - nap (this varies anywhere from 2-3 hours)

2pm - lunch when he wakes from nap

4pm - snack with sippy of milk

5:30pm - short nap on the way home

    6:30pm - dinner

8:30pm - last sippy and bed

He gets water in between milk and with meals. He usually has a snack mid-morning too (around 9:30 or 10am).  He basically is eating or drinking something all day long.  On weekends if we're out running around he'll nap in the car on the way home (usually around 5:30 or 6pm).  So technically he gets 2 naps but since the second one is so short (less than 20 minutes) and he doesn't take that everyday I don't count it.

  • wow your LO sleeps a lot compared to mine ... so jealous

    this is J's schedule:

    7:30am wake up / milk

8:30am breakfast:  oatmeal, fruit, pancakes, cereal

    10:am  snack

    11:15 nap (between 1-2.5hours)

1:30 lunch:  nuggets, veggie, grilled cheese, leftovers

    3:  snack

    5:30 dinner:  same as lunch

7-8pm  bedtime (depends on what time he wakes from his nap)

  • 8-9 wake/breakfast/sippy with milk

    10-11 snack

    12-3 nap

    3 lunch

    5 snack

    7 dinner

    8-9 bed w/ milk

  • They were on two naps till 19m. They would sleep 7:30-7:30, have breakfast at 7:30 (~6 oz of milk and a big bowl of oatmeal w/applesauce and yogurt plus some other fruit), nap at 9:30ish for 1.5-2 hrs, a little play time, lunch around 12, play, nap at 2 or 2:30 for another 1.5-2 hrs, snack, play, dinner at 6, then bed at 7:30.

On their one-nap schedule (which they still have), they were going to bed around 7:30-8, sleeping about 12 hrs, and their meal times haven't changed much but now they do have a morning snack most days. Before there wasn't a logical time for one since they finished breakfast just an hour before their nap and woke up just 1/2 hr to an hr before lunchtime.
