TTC After a Loss

New monthly occurrence since m/c

I had a m/c in September 2010. It was a long process. At my first af after m/c I noticed cramping for a day or so and though AF was coming but she didn't until a week later. I thought it was just a coincidence.

2nd cycle post m/c the same thing happened. One week before AF I got cramps for a day or so and then they went away. This cycle (3rd) the same thing happened again. Last Wednesday I got AF cramps all day and then nothing now. I should get AF this week.

Has anyone's cycle changed in this way since m/c? I never had this before. Also my cycles went back to 28 days. I am completely confused and I know it's not gas or upset stomach.

TIA

Re: New monthly occurrence since m/c

  • My first cycle after m/c was pretty normal, that was in Nov. However, since then, well just check out my chart. Im on day 56 with no relief in sight, I think I O'd last week but I dont know for sure. A m/c really throws your body a curve ball, I'm learning it can take a little while to catch back up.

  • Are you charting or doing anything to track ovulation? The weird cramping makes me think of O pains, and for AF to show up a week later means your LP is too short to hold a pregnancy. If you are not charting, maybe you should try it for this next cycle to see what could be happening. That way if your LP really is that short, you can take that to your doctor and see what s/he can do to help.

My thoughts exactly.  I never used to get O pains, but I do after m/c.  Our bodies do weird things and it can't hurt to know a little bit more about what's going on.

Same here.  I don't remember O pains before the m/c at all, but they're pretty intense every month now.  I have also had instances of mid-cycle spotting & other weird things that I'd never experienced before the m/c.

  • Well in speaking of O pains, I get those too. About a week before this cramping. O pains are different from this cramping I am feeling. I go back to the RE as soon as I get AF this cycle. So I will know for sure then. I am pretty sure I am Oing the week prior and this is not O cramps.

     Thanks for your responses.

ETA: I am not charting because I knew I would be going back to the RE. Also, I have been getting EWCM at CD12.

  • My first post-m/c AF just started yesterday.  I had really bad cramping starting on Thursday and every day until AF showed and then no cramping.  So this is going to be the new normal huh?  I'm not a fan.  I kept thinking that cramping meant AF was starting and running to the bathroom and then nothing.  It is so annoying.

  • I'm completely wacky after my 2nd m/c in Sept.  Cycles are never the same length, one time I had EWCM twice 5 days apart, I'm cramping horribly when I never did before, AF is heavy for a few days and then I spot for freaking 5 days (previous AF was maybe 3 days)... also cramping around O time which makes FWP not so desirable for fun......I'm at the point where I'm going to have to track things more so that when I call the doc, I'll have some info to give them.  I was avoiding charting because I'm obsessive enough and I'm afraid it wil get worse....

Sorry to ramble but as you can see, I think it's normal to "not be quite the same" after m/c.  I'm confused like you so the only thing I can think of is to make a list, chart and see what the doc says.  Good luck!
