3rd Trimester

Only 30 wks but totally exhausted! Anyone else?...

This could be a number of recent factors: jet lag, my two LOs not sleeping well at night, too much activity, poor diet, or could be something more serious like a vitamin deficiency or depression.

Anyone else have their energy levels drop at or around 30 weeks?  I don't remember this happening the last two pregnancies and am not sure whether I should just ride it out, or if there's something I can do about it.

  • I was exhausted around that time and realized I probably needed to up my iron. Also, all the others things you said weren't helping!

  • This is how I felt starting yesterday, when I hit 31 weeks.  I took 2 naps and was STILL tired!  I'm going to ask my MW about it today, but a friend from my Hypnobabies course mentioned that it could be low iron due to another increase in blood volume.  Guess I'll try to get more iron today and see if I feel better.  Good luck!

  • Once I hit 30w I became totally exhausted, almost like how it was in 1st tri. It's pretty normal to have your energy level go down in 3rd tri.

  • :::raises hand:::

    I have noticed a huge drop in my energy levels.  I actually contribute mine to sitting behind a computer under flourescent (sp?) lighting all day.

    I just realized that this morning, so I am going to try to take more breaks up on my feet walking around a little bit, and hopefully that will help.

  • It could be all those things and/or vitamins . I know when I forget to take my iron supplement, my energy level tanks but I think its also part of 3rd tri.
  • Yes! I am so tired lately, but I am also having a very difficult time sleeping through the night. I am sad bc second tri sleeping was heaven. I literally never slept so well in my life as I have during my second tri.
  • The exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks at 30 weeks and 6 days (yesterday!). I can't remember EVER feeling that tired at work. Today is a little better, but I still want to go home and crawl in back in bed.

  • It's not that I'm exhausted, but that my body just can't keep up.  I start doing chores or working on a project and it seems like 15 minutes in to it I have to take a break and let myself relax ... otherwise I'll totally regret it.

  • Yes! I am really feeling exhausted.

     I'm pretty good until about 3pm and then I'm tired, sooooo uncomfortable, and just begin counting the minutes until 5pm when I am done.

     I'm trying to get up from my desk more often and walk around and that seems to be helping a bit.

    It's weird too, becuase I'm actually sleeping longer through the night without having to get up to use the washroom, but I've never felt so tired when that alarm goes off!

  • Yes!  I feel like I need a nap by 2:00!  I'm even skipping yoga tonight because I'm too exhausted - and I love my yoga class.  I would be worried if I were actually sleeping at night, but since I think I'm sleeping in 5 minute bursts before waking up in pain and having to switch sides, I'm pretty sure that's why I'm so tired.

  • Count me in! My shower was Sunday and my in-laws were here until last night. Today, I actually gave in and took a nap, but my energy seems to have tanked overnight. I hope this is just temporary due to all the excitement of the weekend.
