Parenting after a Loss

Would you call the pedi?

Adalee has I guess congestion in the back of her nose. Its not where she can't breath and she doesn't have green snot /mucus in her nose, it seems more in the back of her nose like in her sinuses? She doesn' thave a fever nor is she acting sick. Its mainly only in the morning when she wakes up. It only seems to bother her a little when she first wakes up.

Is this something I need to get her into the pedi for? I haven't done a sick visit yet so wasn't sure!!

Re: Would you call the pedi?

  • My rule of thumb is a fever for 24 hours or more I take DS for a sick visit.

  • I took DD in with this same issue - said it was cuz their nasal passages are so small. They told me to use humidifier, saline drops to loosen mucus and suction bulb. No meds at this age.

If it makes you more comfortable you should call to speak with a nurse for for their advice.

  • It may warrant a call to the nurses line, to see what they think.  They may give you some tips to help with the congestion.  But when Z had the exact same thing, I was told to use a cool mist humidifier and then suction out his nose after using saline drops.  I never got any snot from the suctioning though, at least not for a few days until the congestion started to run.

This.  I asked our Pedi about it at our 2 month appt. and she said the same thing.

This is what I was also told a couple of weeks ago by the pedi's office.  I was told to only really worry if there was a fever.
