Parenting after a Loss

Back to work tomorrow :(

Trying to not spend the entire evening crying.

DS is taking a very late nap, or else I'd be just holding him tightly all night.

I do love my job, but my commute is almost an hour and a half each way, and I feel like I won't see my baby much anymore.  I feel like a bad mommy right now. Logically I know I'm not, but I don't know how to spend that much time away from him.  I can't believe our time together is over.

Re: Back to work tomorrow :(

  • You're not a bad mommy by any stretch of the imaginations. You're are an awesome mommy. And it totally sucks that we have to work but necessary. I work in the afternoon and evenings and I spent the entire morning crying when I had to go back. I even tried to refuse to go to work (to DH) but that didn't fly. So here I sit at work...bored...when I could be at home with my baby boy. Sucks.

  • I know it's so hard.  The first week is the hardest, and the first day itself is the actual worst.  So just remind yourself tomorrow that it won't get any harder and that you'll make it through.  You can totally do this!  It took me about a month to feel like I was really in the swing of things and had a good routine down.  Don't beat yourself up about spending less time with your DS, just focus on making the time you do have with him quality.  GL, hope tomorrow goes super fast for you!

  • I feel for you..I had to go back when my LO was just 9 weeks old, my maternity leave was 8 weeks,so I felt a little lucky that my employer gave me an extra week. The first week was so hard, but it gets better. My LO is so happy at daycare and the providers are great and I can see that they love him so that makes it a little bit easier..Good Luck in the morning and just know that you are doing it so that you can provide for him,,
  • Boo! Good luck! Hope the day passes quickly for you!

  • it gets easier.  I will say - I think my time is so much more precious with DD that when I am not working - I am with her all the time.  When I was at home, I don't think I made the most of it.

  • big hugs to you mommy. My first week back was last week and I will admit it was super tough, but it makes you appreciate every single moment you have with your LO.

I will be thinking of you and your DS tomorrow. Good luck :)
