... I'm talking about wedding cakes. I was watching that 4 Weddings show, and then Cake Boss came on, and it made me want cake. But since I am trying not to eat things like cake, I thought I'd like to see some...

Please forgive the obnoxious picture of me in the background. It was the first cake picture I found in iphoto. We went with a cupcake cake because it was the only thing that DH asked for. It was an almond cake with a vanilla/almond frosting, decorated with almond/coconut snowflakes. Mmm. I loved my cake!

So I haven't gotten my professional wedding pics yet, but here is one I found from some guests at the wedding. The wedding cake was marble with 50/50 cream cheese/ buttercream frosting... the top tier was red velvet. Then instead of a grooms cake we got a cake for my 3 year old son, chocolate with chocolate buttercream.
Bottom layer & top layer were chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. 2nd layer was yellow cake with (yummy) rum filling and the 3rd layer was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting filling. The whole cake was buttercream frosted.
I. loved. every. bite.

Mine isn't as pretty & elegant as almost everyone else's....I made it 100% myself (with assistance from my mom, 3 sisters (bridemaids), and my Maid of Honor), the morning of the wedding! Took me allllllll morning. I spent nearly 5 hours making the cake and only 1 1/2 hours getting ready for the wedding! It was nuts. But I'm so very proud of my lopsided cake
It was a marble cake and each layer was filled with a homemade peanut butter cream icing or chocolate icing and mixed with crushed Girl Scout cookies (Tagalongs - first layer, Samoa - second layer, Thin Mint - top layer) It was DH's idea...and he loved it! lol
