Re: Are you "put under" for ER???

  • yes, i was given anesthesia and was out for the entire ER procedure.  i took that day, and the next day off from work (2 days bed rest).  after ET, i was on bed rest for that day and the following day...so 4 days total of bed rest.

    good luck!

  • It depends on the doctor whether you are put under.  I was.

After ER I really only did 1 day of bedrest, but I took 3 days off from work.  I really felt pretty sh!tty (but I also had OHSS).  Post ER I probably would have had 1-2 days bedrest.

  • I was put out for ER and I was very nervous about it...but it turned out to be a cinch.  No problem.  After ER I was off my feet for the remainder of the day, with just minor cramping and grogginess.  The next day I felt much better and if it was a work day, I would have probably gone (but it wasn't).  For the ET, I was told by my RE 24-48 hours bed rest after...and I took the full 48, just to be on the safe side.
  • I was put out but not fully out (i.e. you breathe on your own).   I spent the rest of the day of the ER, relaxing but then was fine to resume normal activities the next day.
My RE must not be the norm - they tell you to resume normal activities right after ET - no bed rest..
  • Yes, I had anesthesia for my ER. I was not put on any bed rest, but I did not feel well at all after my ER. I laid pretty low between my ER and ET.

  • I was put under, and same as smilee, I am just relaxing because I am still kinda crampy. But most of my bloat has gone down & overall I am feeling much better! My ER was just on Friday & am I really glad I had the weekend to rest.

My clinic uses conscious sedation for the ER, which is my new favorite friend. :-)  You are essentially out but don't have the nasty side effects of a general (nausea, sore throat, mental fogginess).  I still slept most of the afternoon of my ER but I wasn't on "bed rest".  I worked the next day with no problems.  Also, I didn't have any bed rest after my ET, so the only day I had to take off work was the day of the ER.

  • I was put under for 30 minutes.  It did not hurt.

I was on bed rest for 3 days following ER.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • My clinic does not put you under.  You are to take a Xanax 2 hours before the procedure then you get a shot about 30 minutes which is a narcotic that makes you supposedly not feel much.  They lie.  It hurts...but I was awake for both of my IVF's and my dh was there with me, and I've done it twice, so clearly it didn't hurt so badly that I wouldn't want to do it again.

After ER I just laid around the whole day.  The next day I was sore too, so I took that day easy.  As for ET, my clinic recommends/mandates 48 hours of rest.
