TTC After a Loss

Exercise 2WW (sorry if this is a repeat q)

So this question is for those who are not marathan runners, or those who are super fit and always exercise on a very regular basis (though I envy you for your discipline and fitness!) However, if you have insight or opinions I'd still love to hear them.

We started going the gym more regularly this month, like so many others with a new year's resolution. So, I'm not so fit, especially following our loss (wasn't allowed to exercise when I was pg., not as fit as I'd like to be).

So, if you are similiar to me, but have started exercising more, recently, do you think it's ok to exercise during the 2WW? I was about to head to the gym to do a weights class (light weights) and a yoga-type class.

TIA

  • Until you know you are pregnant, I don't see the harm in exercising. Just don't push yourself past what you can handle.

Yoga is great for you pre during and post pregnancy anyway, so I say at least stay with that!

  • I tend to apply "drink until it turns pink" to about everything that one might question during 2ww.  I'd consider myself to be in about the same category as you describe, fitness wise, and I'll not probably change much during 2ww.

However, I know others do take it a little easier during that time, so it's really what you feel comfortable with.  For me, I'd have to weigh continued progress toward my fitness goals with the potential for me falling off the wagon if I slowed down too much.  But again, that's just me.

Good for you for getting going in the gym!

  • I asked this a few weeks ago.  Just watch your heart rate because it effects your blood pressure.  Yoga is really good.  I think light weights are okay during the 2ww.  Just don't push yourself too hard!

  • i asked my Ob/Gyn about this...I run pretty often and was worried that my 6 mile run 2 days before my CP may have caused the CP.  She said it didn't have any bearing on that.  She also said that she encourages women to exercise because they handle the pregnancy better.  On a more personal note, I have several friends that did triathlons, mountain biked etc before they knew they were pregnant and now have healthy children.  I'm hoping that what everyone tells me is right - a baby sticks no matter what when its meant to be.  Who knows...

  • From what I have heard, exercise in the 2ww is fine for most people. I cannot exercise in the 2ww because of the fertility meds that I am on, as per my RE.
