Hi there, I'm Carly. Just wanted to introduce myself. DD #2, Elise Dorothy, was born on Wednesday at 31w1d weighing 3lbs 14oz. She is doing fantastic, better than I ever imagined. She was on a respirator for less than 12 hrs due to bouts of apnea where she would forget to breathe, but has since been taken off and is on room air breathing on her own
Her oxygen saturation is at 99-100%, x-rays all look good, and has been on my colostrum/milk for over a day now and tolerating it well, today they even increased it. She's small and has to be under the bili lights, but so far her only "acute" issue is her prematurity. We are so incredibly lucky and blessed. I really believe getting the steroids at 26w and being on bedrest is what got us this far. It hurt leaving the hospital today without her, but I know she is in great hands.
I've read a few stories and am learning some of the lingo, but I am sure I will have questions.
Good luck to everyone and their precious LOs!
Here's Elise today before I was discharged:
Keira Lorraine - born 3/29/09, 7lbs even, 20.5 inches long!
Baby Elise was born @ 31w on 1/12/11 weighing 3lbs 14oz, 18in - she came home from the NICU on Valentine's day
Re: Joining you all from the HR board
Congrats and welcome Elise!
Hope her NICU stay remains uneventful - sounds like she is doing GREAT!
Just saw that you are in MN- which hospital are you at? We were at Children's in St. Paul- great hospital!!
We're at FV Riverside in Minneapolis, I live 4 hrs away but I was transferred down here at 26w when I went into PTL. I was at North Memorial for 2 weeks on hospital bedrest and then was allowed to leave to do home bedrest at my sister's place in St. Paul. It's been interesting :P Worth it though, I can't imagine the difference it made going those extra 5 weeks.
Thanks ladies! Wonderful board, indeed. Love all these beautiful little fighters
