So I had a bad hair day on my wedding day (6/09). I used to talk about this incessantly but it drove my DH crazy and he really got sad about it. Sounds whiny but I think a girl deserves some good hair on her wedding day. So the short story is...my hairdresser put some dippity dew crap in my hair and some granny curlers and I knew I hated it that moment he completed it - He talked me out of the practice round I traveled 3 hrs for a few months before. So I thought... I'll go back to my suite where my 5 bridesmaids are and two juniors and 2 baby flower girls and use the hairdresser I paid to do their hair. (All in all $700 with dippity dew man). So .... the good hair didn't happen. It was too late. No one let me wash the dippity dew out of my hair (and apparently, I had lost all sense of independence) and I left my room with my veil placed under my bobby pins with crunchy, bad hair. That's life.
So...lucky me (I am an event planner) so I have a lot of resources. I was able to fix my hair somewhat for the reception and I had a great time despite it all. I do blame myself first...then everyone one of those "ladies in waiting" who let me leave that room feeling like I did. WTF no one could put me first and fix my veil???
Anyway, I sound like a crazy and I am really not but here's the funny part. I told my DH that if we got pregnant with the new DE cycle I needed to make sure that I had good "birth hair" because there would be a lot of pictures. I thought I would get a hairdresser to come in to my room at the hospital after I deliver our perfect, fraternal twins. OK, maybe you gals think this chick is a sick ticket...and maybe I watch too many of those Real Housewives shows where they have a "hairdresser in waiting in their bathrooms" but I was really serious! LOL. MY DH looked at me like I have lost it, which maybe is true : ) But he said...OK...becuause I think he would buy me the moon if I got pregnant wit twins at this point.
But better to think these things through.. right?
Ladies may we all get our BFP this year and may we all have GBH - Good Birth Hair!!! : ) Are you with me? ....lol
Re: Kind of funny story...maybe long
I am in a horrible mood today waiting for my beta and your story made me laugh. I could totally see myself pulling out the make-up after labor. No one wants to look all sweaty and tired for their first picture with their baby!! Ok I admit that I did it when my first daughter was born.
Thank you for making me smile. I really really needed it.
This cracked me up. I know a girl that had twins and a rough delivery, and her husband was really worried about her right after it was over. He said that he knew she was going to be okay when she asked for help putting her hair in a ponytail and then yelled, "UGH you're doing it wrong!!"
Wishing us all BFPs and GBH in 2011!!
