How Much Yogurt Do You Give LO?

DD LOVES yogurt, but I am wondering how much I am suppose to give to her. I give it to her for breakfast and she will eat a container and than have a bottle about an hour later. Am I giving her too much?

  • We give Abby yogurt almost every day, and cheese, too. She hasn't shown any signs of GI upset, so we'll keep giving it to her as long as she still likes it!

  • Logan loves yogurt. We give him a little bowl of it every morning for breakfast, mixed with fruit. I would say it's about 1/2 cup altogether. He acts like he wants more sometimes.

  • DD is 7 mo 6 days right now and I just asked ped nurse if we can start her on Yo Baby (will also buy plain greek yogurt, since lower in sugar).  Ped nurse said to wait unitl the 9 mo check up.  That seems like a long time to wait.  I gave her a little taste on a spoon anyways and she seemed to really like it.  As long as she doesn't seem to have a dairy intolerance, I should fine at this age, right?
  • We started it this week (had a dr appointment today, he said it was fine) and I gave her half the container, which is probably about 1/4 cup.... but it was as an inbetween meal snack (just to try it).  She loved it!

Our pedi gave us the go ahead with yogurt at her 6 month appt. She told us that the probiotics in the yogurt breaks down the lactose and makesit easier for babies to digest it.
  • I buy the yobaby yogurt. He gets one container once or twice a week (mainly because I forget it's even in the fridge). It does contain a lot of sugar, so it's probably best that he doesn't get it too often, I suppose. Although, he does LOVE it.

  • I give it a couple times a week and have since 6 months. My daughter loves it, but I can't stand the smell of yogurt. I give the Yo Baby container-not sure if it is 4 or 6 oz.
