We got some from Sam's Club and I love them! They are primary colors (+ green) on one side and dark gray on the other. They are large squares, not easily moved, and inexpensive ($20/pack of 8 large squares). We were given the Skip Hop squares and while they were cute, they didn't stay together well.

we just purchased some from Onestepahead. Most that we looked at said recommended for Ages 3 and up so we were a bit concern about that. These ones said under 3. They seemed a bit more on the expensive side, but they're worth it.

I got these also because of a rec from someone on here.
Originally I got Imaginarium ones from BRU b/c they were on super sale during christmas. But they had removeable alphabet letters and I HATED them. I put them down once, and then went to pick them up and all the letters fell out. NO WAY.
Anyway, go the solid ones from One Step Ahead and love them. They are a bit thicker than the other ones.
I like the primary colors for their play area! It looks so fun and cheerful! But my sister, who hates them, has just been sent the link that Goldie provided.
I just bought 3 packs from Sam's club and made a huge play area. The squares are big and easy to assemble and the babies love them. They have some texture to them and they like to feel them. My sister bought some from Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon. I haven't seen hers yet to compare.
Re: recommend your foam play mat
we have these and LOVE them - they have helped with so many falls - and are not bright obnoxious colors with tons of pieces

your kids will pull them apart- so the less pieces the better (ie- i would HATE those alphabet mats, etc).
we don't have a play room- 1/2 our livingroom is the play area where we have these mats- so it's nice b/c the mat blends in and doesn't look childish.
