seriously.... I can't get FIVE minutes to myself today to get ANYTHING done.
Shower? .... Um.... I stink.
Dishes? Piled up in the sink - something smells in there. yuck
Laundry? Again, more piles. I won't even put my nose to it to assess stink-level...
Every surface of my house has SOME kind of pile or junk on it.
Oh we have piles of baby crap EVERYWHERE!!! I WANT MY HOUSE BACK!
How do any of you get ANYTHING done?
I'm not a clean freak by any means, in fact by looking at our house right now you would call us slobs (driving me INSANE!!!) because I just can't get a single thing done. And usually I don't freak out if something doesn't get done... but it's all piling up and it's going to take FOREVER to get everything cleaned and back in order - time I don't have!!!
It's giving me a headache - on top of the head cold I have. DS won't nap for more than 5-10 minutes at a time today. Which is also driving me insane. DH has to work his second job tonight so I'll be alone, all night. Again.
*runs, hides, and sheds a few tears*
Re: rough day (major vent)
I make a list (sometimes just in my head).
What is the thing that has to get done and how long is it going to take me?
DS goes down for a nap, ok you have 5 minutes. Start the laundry and put dishes in dish washer away. Then at the next nap you have 5 minutes. Change laundry over and load dish washer.
It may take you all day, but that laundry will get done and eventually the kitchen will be clean. Then after that it is all about maintaining. Maybe tomorrow in your 5 minute increments you can tackle the bathrooms or putting the laundry away. It may take a while but in a week the house could be clean (or at least picked up and then again it is all about maintaining).
My house was an absolute mess for the first few weeks. I have finally gotten it down to where I think I can handle it and maintain while Jack naps or plays on the floor. Even now though, don't look in our room because it is a mess.
Oh, hun. Those days are so hard. Will he let you wear him so you can get caught up and feel somewhat sane again?
I am sorry your day is sucking! HUGS! Will DS let you put him in a swing or bouncy chair while you rest or do some chores?
Have you tried swaddling him to get him to take a nap? Some days when DD hasn't napped on her own, I will go swaddle her and put her down for a nap, this way she will sleep 2-3 hours versus 30 mins.
I have days like that. If DH is home (or if I can wait it out till he gets home), I cry about how messy the house is and that it's stressing me out and the baby won't let me do anything.
Then he'll either start cleaning for me or take the baby. I'd rather he start cleaning, because if he takes the baby, I get enough time to go pee and that's it, before the baby is crying again. Then he gets to clean.
Seriously though, one room at a time. Do a surface clean - throw the trash away on one break. Take dishes to the kitchen the next. Load dishwasher next break (or wash half of them by hand if you're like me and have no dishwasher). Vacuum one break. If you're lucky, you can get one room cleaned up per break. Do the laundry one load at a time. Sometimes just sorting the laundry makes it look like you've accomplished something.
Start small. Don't look at your entire messy house and stress. Just do little things at a time. Then once you have it semi-back in order, keep up the one room per break. It's amazing how messy a room can get when you sit in the recliner the whole time with the baby.
I like how you think. :-)
The sling I have makes it really hard to wear him and do things (I have short arms!)... unless I'm wearing it wrong. I need to get a Moby I think, for these purposes.
*sigh*

Moby's are fantastic. For a few weeks (and sometimes now) it was the only way I could do anything around the house.
yeah i have one of these https://www.sevenslings.com/index.php/cart and its just not helpful when I actually need to DO things.

I have learned to clean like a mad woman. Give me 15 minutes and I can do the whole house. No joke.
But I agree...moby is a great alternative. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from others. Your job is the baby...other people can help with cleaning
