NIFR-Question for Massachusetts (Boston area) Ladies

Hey Ladies,

I have a question regarding a possible relocation for a job?

A recruiter friend called me about a job in South Deerfield (about 70 miles outside of Boston) and I was originally not interested.  I am not really looking for a new position, but for some reason I can not get this position out of my head. It seems like a great fit so I am seriously considering applying for it.

My question- Are any of you ladies acquainted with South Deerfield?  I am only assuming, but I am sure my hubby and I would want to live closer to Boston than South Deerfield- do any of you know of a town between the two cities that would be an easy commute both ways?

Any additional thoughts would be great on the area, people, etc? I have never lived anywhere but the south so this is totally new for me.

TIA,

Michelle

  • I have grown up and currently live in Mass but sadly don't have any advice. I just wanted to say, Massachusetts would be lucky to have you! Good luck in whatever you decide!
  • I love that area.  It is soo beautiful.  The only city between Boston and there is really Springfield, but Boston is still over an hour from Springfield.  I'd rather live in South Deerfield!

Mass. generally has great IF coverage too!

  • I went to college out that way, it is beautiful.  It is really different than the Metro-Boston area.  It is fairly rural.  There are some really nice towns out that way, but it is a 2 hour drive from Boston.  I don't know the towns really well, wish I could be more help!

  • I live in nearby RI (I can spit into MA from the end of my street) & am always up in the Boston area.  Deerfield is way out there.  It's a beautiful area, but there's really no good, quick way to get to Boston from there; you'd have to take Interstate 91 to 90 (Mass Pike) & it's a good 2 hour drive.  Maybe the Worcester area would be an option for you; one of DH's BFFs lives just west of there in Shrewsbury.  It's not quite 1/2 way but it'scome a long way from the scary place is was in my youth.  Another nice thing about that area is if your DH was to get a job in Boston he could take the commuter rail into the city & avoid the hell that is Boston traffic.  And the UMass Medical Center is in Worcester so you'd have REs nearby.  Any other ?s let me know!
