I know that it goes by a few times, but google is failing me today in finding a more comprehensive cheese list to know if Farmer's Cheese is safe during pregnancy. Anyone know or have better google luck than I do today?
Rainbow baby, EDD 7/8/14, missed miscarriage 12/5/13.
Re: Farmer's Cheese Safe?
That's the problem, I'm unable to figure out if it is made with pasturized or unpasturized. The only thing that I see is that it cannot be made with ultra-pasturized milk (versus just pasturized). I also know they sometimes add bacteria or something else to curdle it, so I'm leaning towards no. I just cannot find anyone saying "yes" or "no" to this type of cheese.
Just found this for the Friendship brand (which is what we buy around us).

Cultured Pasteurized Grade A Skim Milk & Cream.
genereally those are cooked, right? in which case you should have nothing to worry about.
My family just does potato and sourcrout (sp).
My aunt makes a cheese pasca using farmer's cheese, which is not heated at all in the making of it. She is offering me some, but the one ingrediant in question is Farmer's cheese.
Thanks, I'll have to see what she uses!
