s/o night potty training...the girl who cried 'poop'?

We really aren't potty training right now, but Tracey will occasionally ask to poop on the potty, and she has gone a few times. Day time is fine, but tonight is not going well. For the past 45 minutes she has been in her bed screaming "poopoo potty! toot potty." Last night she actually pooped during the night, which is very unusual for her, so I would not be surprised if she had to go. However I put her on before bed, and have given in to her crying requests 3 times more with no luck. I let her sit as long as she needs to, I tell her to toot (tends to speed up the process, obviously. ) She tells me she's all done and I put her pajamas on and put her back to bed.

I really think it's her new way of trying to get out of going to bed, and I'm just waiting to hear her climb and fall out of her crib.  Am I setting myself up for failure later on by not responding to these requests??

This is probably more of a vent than anything, but she's been fighting bed for over an hour tonight, so I'm not in the best of moods.

  • Oh yes. Micah did this.  With poop and pee.  I finally started telling her "Oh, okay.  You have a diaper right now.  After you are in bed, you go in your diaper and I'll change your poopoo if you do go."

Ya know... she's never actually gone.

She cried the first day or two.  But she got over it.

  • Yup, Marion started using it as a delay tactic as well.  We take her when we walk her back to her bed and then just remind her that she *just* went.  We'd get her out once or twice but she never really went.  Then Josh started telling her that if she didn't go when she said she needed to go, he wasn't going to sing to her.

As with everything in life, it really was just a phase that lasted for two or three weeks.  Now, going to the potty right before bed is just another part of her nighttime routine and if she asks to go potty, she 80% of the time really does have to go.
